·         Medicine: in English (150 Places)

·         Medicine: 6 years - 5000€ per year

Application procedure: Applicants who are eligible to apply to these programs can be citizens belonging to the European Union, to the European Economic Area (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein), to the Swiss Confederation and also other non-EU countries. The assessment of the candidates will be carried out by an Admission Board appointed by the Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The admission of the international students at the University of Tîrgu Mureş will be done in two stages: Early admission (March – April) and Regular admission (September)

The Early Admission procedure will cover the following stages:

  1. assessment of the personal statement

  2. assessment of the applicant’s former activities prior to the submission of the application (high school grades, extracurricular activities)

  3.  A Skype interview for each applicant, which will be scheduled and announced in time. The purpose of the interview is the evaluation of the compatibility with the medical profession and the English Proficiency.

Applicants who choose to study in English can only benefit from tuition fee places.

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tîrgu Mureș is a public university in Tîrgu Mureș, Romania, founded in 1945. The university is one of the 6 traditional medical schools in Romania. Medical education in Târgu Mureș began in 1945, when the Faculty of Medicine was founded as a branch of the Bolyai University of Cluj Napoca. In 1948, after the Education Reform, this was transformed into the Medical and Pharmaceutical Institute of Tirgu Mures, and in 1991, the Institute was given the name of University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Tîrgu Mureș. The University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Târgu Mureș, a famous academic institution, is accessible to all Romanian and foreign citizens without any discrimination and as a centre of excellence which provides knowledge and competence in various forms: initial and continuous training of specialists, research, expertise and consultancy in its field of competence. In the development of the university, the educational and research components have always been prevalent in training physicians, dentists, pharmacists, midwives, and nurses. The university has over 3200 national and international students as well as over 700 teachers and researchers.

Târgu-Mureș (also known by other alternative names) is the seat of Mureș County in the north-central part of Romania. It is the 16th largest Romanian city, with 134,290 inhabitants as of 2011. The first recorded documentation of the city dates to 1332. It is mentioned in the papal registry under the Latin name Novum Forum Siculorum. The first fortress in the town was erected in 1492 upon order of Transylvanian voivode Stephen Báthory, and was accomplished somewhere between 1602 and 1652 under judge Tamás Borsos.

Tirgu Mures is a major academic center serving both traditional universities (University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Petru Maior University, Theatre University) and new private units (Dimitrie Cantemir University, Sapientia University). The five institutions offer a wide range of fields, such as: general and military medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and dental technology, medical assistance for emergency surgery, theatrology, acting, directing, philology, psycho-pedagogy, law, finance and banks , accounting, mathematics, computer science, public administration, marketing, management, computers, electronics, precision mechanics technology, automotive, industrial design.

Tirgu Mures is a welcoming city, given the multicultural character generated by various cultures that live in symbiosis in the territory. The origin of the cultural diversity is an ancient one, being expressed in human plan by ethnic and religious groups. The predominant populations are the Romanians and the Hungarians. The opening to the West (and others) is also proven by the languages poken in the area, among which, along the national language, Hungarian, German language (there are schools that teach in Hungarian and German), English language. The urban area of Tirgu Mures is the holder of a diverse architectural heritage, where the tourists can visit monuments dating from the medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and in particularly the "Art Nouveau" period.
